Ten Months Old

Jacob is ten months old. He weighs 17 lbs. 13 oz. He doesn't have any teeth yet, although he seems to be teething quite a bit. He is able to now crawl on his knees, sit up on his own, and can climb up to standing on the furniture. Just while we were in Las Vegas the past couple weeks he learned to pull up and stand in his crib. It was quite amusing while we were bunking in the same room together in Vegas for Shaun and I to wake up to his smiling face just pulled up over the rail of the playpen.

He's had a wet, phlegm-y cough and a runny nose since 8/23 and we went to see the pediatrician yesterday and it looks like it's just going to have to run its course. There's no ear infection and he's not really irritable at all, so we were told as long as he's eating, pooping, sleeping, and is for the most part still a happy guy, then there's nothing much to worry about. I really hope his cough is gone soon and he feels better.

He loves to walk with help. Every day I see him take a little more risk with walking. Today he was standing up holding onto the couch and he wanted to sit down, so he figured out a way to ease his rear-end out and ease down so that he didn't plop onto the hard floor. He did a great job figuring it out and I wish I had recorded it on video.

Jacob is eating really well. He is really open to new foods and likes a lot of different things. Shaun and I talked to the pediatrician again yesterday about feeding and I'm going to try to wean Jacob from breast-feeding by his first birthday and also get him eating three-four meals a day by that time.

Sleep is always a very important thing for Jacob. He has always been really good about going down for naps and sleeping soundly. We are back to having him sleep through the night and he's taking one-two naps a day depending on their lengths. He is really nice to me and wakes up around 5-6am to eat and then goes right back to sleep for 1-2 hours. I love this habit. Hopefully we can keep it up for a while. =)

What's funny is that Jacob doesn't really call me Mama - it's more like a Na Na Ma sound. But, OF COURSE, he definitely has the Da da da da da da down. He's always talking about Dad and how he sees Dad and how he wants to play with Dad. Not really, he just knows how to say his name, but he puts the name with the face for sure. It's actually very heart warming and Shaun just eats it up. =)

Jacob's dancing (or you might see it as just shaking his head back and forth) was a real hit with the family. They would sing him the song I sang in a previous video (Jacob, Jacob, Jacob, Baby, Baby, Baby) and 9 out of 10 times, he start shaking his head and moving his little body. It was really adorable. So adorable, that we came up with a few more songs and no matter what, as long as Jacob's name is in the song, or sometimes even if it's just some music, he'll start to dance.

Here are a whole bunch of pictures from the past few weeks. Some I took, some were taken from family.

We gave him the sippy cup to get a drink and he just threw it back and chugged it! LOL
Figured out that ripping up tissues is a lot more fun than wiping your nose with them.
