At my 38 week appointment on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the doctor checked me again and said I'm 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I was really hoping that I would be farther along by this point, but since my mom was coming the next day, I was glad that I wasn't. The baby's heartbeat and my blood pressure were perfect and besides the fact that I was still getting over the cold I had, I was feeling pretty good. Just a little uncomfortable. It has been very hard to sleep and get good rest recently. My mom arrived on Wednesday afternoon. We walked the neighborhood once a day for the next few days to try to get things going. On Friday, we went to the mall to let Jacob ride the choo-choo and play and when we got home, I had Braxton-Hicks contractions pretty much non-stop from 3pm to 1am. My mom stayed home and watched Jacob so that Shaun and I could have a date night out. We went to a chinese buffet place and went to see My Idiot Brother at the movies. I was pretty uncomfortable the whole time. I was having a few regular contractions during the movie, and really thought things would continue, but when we got home and laid down to rest at 1am, everything stopped and I slept through the night without anything.
