Happy Birthday, Jacob!!
I can't believe my baby is already 2. This is surreal to me. I feel like we just met and fell in love with him. He is one of the highlights of my life. I just love my whole family, really. Anyways, enough gushy stuff. Jacob is doing really well. He is just in the last month or two grown out of his 18-24 month clothes. We just finished buying him all new fall/winter clothes in 24 mo/2T. The pants are all a little long on him, but I'm sure he will sprout and grow into them in the next few months. I even got him a snowsuit with bib and a jacket. So cute. Can't wait to take him out in the snow and build a real snowman together. He is going to have fun this winter I think. Shaun is already talking about taking Jacob out in front with him to help him shovel the driveway. We will have to get him a baby shovel.
Jacob's vocabulary is slowly getting better. He will now call me by Mama and Shaun by Dada when he wants our attention, or something. He is saying all kinds of new words and these are his everyday words- Sit, Stay, Walk, Truck, Chugga (train), Boo (his name for Charlee), Dog, Sad (when he hears Brentley cry), Bubba (bubble bath), Out, Gone, Socks, Ow!, and Cheese.
We are working on a lot of new words, but so far, he just listens and has decided not to repeat after us. He knows what we are talking about 90% of the time, he just isn't talking with us. This past month, with him having to transition from only child to big brother, we have done a lot of timeouts. At least once a day he goes to timeout for something. He is such an affectionate boy though. It's obvious that he loves us and his baby brother too.
Jacob's favorite foods right now are probably chicken nuggets, broccoli, green beans, plain white rice, applesauce, string cheese, and quesadillas. He eats pretty well and we have noticed that his diapers are getting worse and worse. We will begin the potty training when Shaun returns from Singapore and things settle down again, probably sometime in late January. He will be almost 2 1/2 by then, and hopefully he will be ready.
Jacob has graduated. He's now in the big bathtub and he sits on his knees or lays down like he's swimming. Pretty entertaining watching him play in the bath now.
Wanted to go outside, in the cold, in his pajamas. He's crazy.
I finally broke down and got Jacob a baby doll. He loves to burp it and put the paci back in its mouth.
He loves to check on Brentley if he's reachable and try to put the paci back in his mouth. He's been sick the last few days so I have had to scold him for even touching the paci now. =(
Playing with his dinosaurs making all kinds of sound effects. I have a video of this one too.
Checking on Brentley in the swing
I made Jacob cupcakes and he got to have one for breakfast on his birthday. I was proud of him for actually blowing out his candle too, eventhough he tried to touch the flame first. lol
Jacob got to go to the Hogle Zoo for his birthday...and it was a beautiful day out luckily!
The elephants were all right close to the observation area
Checking out the rhinos
Watching the monkeys play
And the giraffes were lively and we got to watch them eat too.
Jacob, Brentley and I riding the zoo's choo choo train.
When we got home there were presents waiting in the mail, this was from my parents
And this was from me and Shaun
Today, I guess continuing the birthday celebrating and getting outside in the nice weather, we went to Pumpkinland and played with the other MOPS moms and their kids. Jacob looked so cute in his overalls and hat. He kept the hat on all day too.
