Visiting New York

We flew to New York together on Monday, March 14th and spent a week there.  Shaun had to work so Jacob and I decided we'd tag along and hang out with the Grandparents.  My mom had such a fun time. Jacob loves her and would whine until you gave him to her to hold.  I have to admit that I didn't take as many pictures as I should have...but hey, I was on vacation!

Shamrock in the intersection by my parent's house

We were there for St. Patrick's Day and we spent the morning at the Horton House where John and Cindy sang to us and served us delicious scones, soup, sandwiches, tea and cake.  Everything was delicious and Jacob was good about trying everything, but since it was around his nap time, he mostly went for cookies and this kept him from whining.

We went to Mahoney's that night for Shepherd's Pie and saw the local bagpiper troop perform.  It was really loud because there was like twenty bag pipers so Jacob was not so happy about that.  But he did go home with a green star balloon and that made him happy.
As a tradition, we went to D.D.'s and had some pizza.  This picture was just for Ethan.  It says:  Ha Ha we're having pizza and you're not!  (Although Ethan knows we are just jealous that he gets the beach and the heat and we are still suffering in the cold!)

Jacob had fun exploring the house and playing outside.  We even had a day of 70 degrees!  He loved walking in the grass and throwing the ball to Buddy. I don't think anything was more fun than playing in Grandma's plastic bin cabinet.  Why is that so entertaining?  And why does every Grandma have a cupboard like that? lol

Shaun and I wanted to try some authentic greek food while we were there so we stopped to eat on Friday night at Tony's Gyros and Grill in Wappinger Falls.  Jacob has learned to smile at the camera now so he gave such a cheesy face.  The food was pretty good.  The hummus was the best I've ever had. We had (lets see if I can spell it out) pastichio, spanikopita and mousakka and gyro meat.  Everything was tasty, but some things were just too meaty for my liking.  They use a lot of beef and lamb in their recipes.

Jacob is definitely off his normal schedule since he converted to Eastern time, but slowly we are getting him back on track.  He did have a hard time falling asleep the first few days, but after that, he figured it out.
Wow what a face, but it explains that Jacob was sleepy but cried when we laid him down so I picked him up and took him to see everyone

On the way home, our flight out of NY was delayed so we missed a connecting flight in Atlanta and had to stay the night.  Jacob stayed up til midnight with us eating room service dinner which was grilled cheese and french fries.  He was so loopy that he was just talking and laughing and cracking us up.  He was really good overall having to go through that with us.

He was talking so much that I kept getting pictures of his lips moving.  So funny.
