April 19th - Jacob turns 2 1/2

A lot has happened with Jacob in the last six months. He is great about learning to talk and does copy everything we say if we ask him to. He has even started to form some of his own opinions. When we ride in the car, he will talk about the cows and horses we see and will shout, "MOM!" until I acknowledge every single one he points out. It has become harder and harder to talk on the phone around him because he is always asking for my attention to show me things. One of our favorite things he says now is I MISS YOU. Whenever we leave the room, even if it is just for a minute to run upstairs, when we come back he will say, "Mom, I missed you!" Makes me smile every single time. He has learned to do this to people he loves in order to get a laugh or a kiss. He still says HICE for YES and we don't correct him. Still think it's pretty cute. He was very good with Brentley, always careful to be gentle around him, but lately, I guess as Brentley has started to become more mobile and crawl around, we now find him trying to sit on, lay on, or drag his brother around. He also has decided that his answer when I ask him to do anything is always, "No, Mom." or "No, Daddy". I don't find this behavior as funny. (LOL) We think he has definitely hit the 2's and is starting to be a bit more bratty. So far, timeouts and redirection has worked pretty well for discipline. I also noticed that I might not be giving him enough attention and affection, since I'm so focused on the boys needs and keeping the house clean. So, I have started to hug and kiss and play with Jacob a lot more and he seems to be not acting up as much.

One of the many "smiles" Jacob uses.
