I took Jacob to a park nearby to let him play and he had fun crawling around and going down the slide all by himself. That's something he just figured out how to do this past month.
Jacob loves eating fruit. I started giving him slices of oranges and he knows not to eat the rind. So, that part, usually ends up on the floor, and now we know Charlee is not too fond of orange rind either. Here he is smiling again with orange chewed up all in his mouth. (LOL)
Every morning Jacob and Charlee look for birds in the yard. They really are two peas in a pod.
Jacob's newest favorite treats: Rice Krispy Treats
Jacob chipped his tooth a little on the side of the pool this week. Here's a picture of the damage. It's a little hard to see, but it's the front left tooth. BTW, poor kid has his Mom and Dad's bad teeth genes. We are pretty sure he'll need braces just like we did, even though these are just baby teeth.
This past week, the day before Jacob turned 19 months, I took away the paci and decided to try breaking Jacob of it by myself. I had originally told Shaun I wouldn't do it when he was out of town, but I couldn't wait for him to be in town. This was the last day he had it. For some reason, he walked around all day with this little IceBreakers container so I put that in bed with him without the paci and I really think it helped him forget. He cried from the time I laid him down at 7pm off and on until he finally fell asleep at 8:30pm. Then he woke up once at 12am mad, but after I patted him on the back for a bit, he fell back asleep. Then the next day he cried off and on for about 30 minutes when I laid him down for a nap and that was the end of it. He lays down without a fight or anything now and I think he has already gotten over it. I feel so lucky that he is so easy to deal with. I really thought it would take him at least a week to get rid of it. Lord, please make this next boy just as easy on me!!
Playing with his laptop, punching all the buttons and dancing to the music it makes. So cute.
Eating cereal for breakfast with a spoon and doing a great job with it. He's still working on figuring out the fork and spoon, but uses them with every meal now and really tries hard not to use his hands to pick up the food.
Wanting me to let him go play outside in the cold and rain. I feel bad for him on Bad Weather days. He is actually dressed to go to his first "Gymcats" class. We had fun too. 45 minutes of playing on Gymnastics equipment and running around. He's now signed up to do this class every Friday for the next two months. Should be fun for him. =)
Overall, he is growing and improving every day. This past week he has really started talking and trying to say more words. So far he has said: SOCKS, CAR, TRUCK, DOG, DAD, MAMA, and YES or YEAH.
I have become more aware of his time in front of the TV and have limited it to mostly just when he eats because for some reason, if he's not focused on his meal, he eats way more than he would if he just sat there. Also, I have been doing flash cards and reading books to him and making sure we point things out and let him watch us say the words so he knows what to do with his mouth to make the sound.
He is back to not eating very much. He mostly snacks on crackers and milk throughout the day because when I sit him down for a meal he will just nibble...depending on what it is.
Potty training has taken a backseat. I'll have to get more focused on it again and get him interested in it more. I just don't feel like he's ready just yet. I want to ease him into it.
I am loving Jacob at this age. He is fun, cuddly, and even puckers up to kiss me now. He is everything I need when Shaun is gone so much. He gives me so much love. =)
