Camping Trip to Posey Lake

It's been a tradition of ours for the past 3 years to kick off the camping season with a trip on Shaun's birthday. The first year camped in a tent at Timpanookee campground in American Fork Canyon and spent one night because we got rained/snowed on. Last year, while I was four months preggo, we camped again in a tent at Soapstone Campground in the Wasatch Forest...those pictures are here on the blog. This year, Shaun wanted to celebrate Jacob's first camping trip and his birthday at Posey Lake in the mountains near Escalante, UT.

It was a fun weekend with what I call PERFECT weather. It was cool during the day with sun and probably around 55 at night. Very comfortable. Plus we had a heater in the tent trailer so we did fire that up at night a little bit so the baby was warm. =)
We left on Friday morning and it took us around 6 hours to get to the camp site. It was slow-going with the Jeep towing the trailer up the mountains in Boulder. Here is a few pictures from our pitstop in Torrey, UTJacob wanted to grab the leaves so I was holding him up with my buff arms so he could reach them. haha

It's a pretty good climb on a dirt road from Escalante to get to the campground too, so it ended up being a long drive. When we got there, we set up camp and I took this video:

We made a yummy dinner the first night - Hamburgers, Fresh Corn on Cob, Baked Beans, Salad....Delish!

Our friend the chipmunk

We walked around the lake to take in the views. Beautiful!

We took a drive up a dirt road on Saturday to Baxter Reservoir and Shaun fished there. It was another long 45 minutes in the car and Jacob entertained himself by singing most of the way.

The next night, Shaun made Dutch Oven Chicken & Potatoes and I concocted a Dutch Oven Strawberry Cobbler and both tasted great!

Funny how we laid Jacob down to play and not even an hour later he masters rolling over like it's no big deal. He had fun laying there just rolling all over the place.

Jacob decided to catch some zzzz's while playing on the bed.

Driving home finally - man, it was a long ride back after what seemed to be a quick weekend away

I made Shaun a cake when we got home. It's my first attempt at cake decorating so not bad if you ask me.
